The Institute
The Holocaust Literature Research Institute/Institut de recherche sur la Literature de loHolocauste is located at the Western University in London, Ontario Canada. It was established in 1992 by Dr. Alain Goldschlager. Since its creation researchers and scholars have come to the Western University to use this essential library collection in an effort to gain understanding about the Holocaust (Shoah).
The Holocaust Literature Research Institute/Institut de recherche sur la Literature de loHolocauste currently has a collection of more than 2,000 texts. It is the second largest collection of Holocaust survivor testimonials and witness accounts outside of Israel.
The primary role of the Institute is to search for and collect Holocaust survivor narratives and witness testimonials. Its activities include:
- The compilation of a catalogued and annotated bibliography of survivor testimonials and witness accounts.
The development of educational programs.
Publication.
Provide resources and research support.
